Viche shows who reports an event and who stays silent. About a reader it keeps exactly what the «Following» feed, bookmarks and comments need — and says so plainly.

The account

Kept: a handle, an e-mail address for sign-in, follows of topics, regions, affairs and sources, bookmarks, comments, comment votes, muted authors, «less of this», error reports, digest and push settings, and — only if you turned it on — reading history.

No real name is required. Apart from the reading history you turn on yourself, no behavioural event is tied to the account: where you lingered and what you searched, Viche does not record.

Two buttons in the account: «Export» hands over everything listed in one file; «Delete» closes the account after a week's grace, after which the data is erased.

Visit statistics

PostHog keeps them on EU servers — and only after your «Yes» on the first visit. Under a random browser id: no name, no address, no account; a signed-in reader is indistinguishable in the statistics from one who is not.

The site works the same without. Turn it off here or in your account — the switch below.

Kept for: 12 months

Turn it off any time — here or in your account; the site works the same without.

Abuse protection

So the site stays up, every action is counted in a window of a minute to an hour and forgotten after two: by network address for a reader without an account, by account for a reader with one. The basis is the legitimate interest of keeping the service available; the counter keeps a number, not the action.

How to withdraw

The switch above turns statistics off immediately and remembers the choice in this browser. The account is deleted from the account page. Questions go to the editorial address in «Sources».
