Hungarian parliament elects Anna Unger head of new asset recovery agency

On 28 August 2026, the Hungarian parliament elected Anna Unger as the head of the National Asset Recovery Agency. The agency will investigate allegations of embezzlement of state funds, particularly during Viktor Orban's administration. Unger will begin her duties on 1 September 2026.
