Alexander Safonov, a former aide to Vladimir Zhirinovsky, was killed on the front in Ukraine on 28 August. His death was confirmed by former State Duma deputy Vasily Vlasov, who noted that Safonov sustained fatal injuries near Kostiantynivka.
