Diesel deficit to last until the second half of 2027, says IEA

The International Energy Agency forecasts that the global diesel deficit will continue until the second half of 2027. A decline in diesel exports from Russia and the Middle East has impacted global supplies, although increases from other regions have partially offset these losses.

In brief

  • Diesel exports from Russia and the Middle East fell by 1.3 million barrels per day.
  • Increases in supplies from other regions have only partially compensated for the losses.
  • The end of 2026 is expected to see an increase in refinery utilization.
