Commander of the machine gun platoon of the 103rd separate territorial defense brigade, Lyubomyr Mikalo, held his position in Sumy Oblast for over 40 days under the siege of Russian troops. He endured constant shelling, gas attacks, and drone strikes, for which he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
