Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted two bills to the Verkhovna Rada aimed at establishing a status of 'national shrine of the Ukrainian people' and increasing penalties for crimes against such sites. The proposals include granting special status to 23 historical sites and imposing penalties of up to 10 years in prison for intentional damage.
