On 22 August 2026, Hungary restarted the third unit of the Paks nuclear power plant, which had been halted due to low water levels in the Danube. Prime Minister Peter Madyar announced that the situation stabilised thanks to the construction of thresholds on the riverbed. The plant is expected to operate at full capacity by 26 August.
