In August 2026, Ukraine's Ministry of Education and Science announced stricter controls on students of conscription age, altering deferment rules for military students. Deferment will now be granted for only one semester, with automatic verification of eligibility. Following a mobilisation scandal involving a father in Kryvyi Rih, further changes to deferment conditions are being prepared.
