On September 2, 2026, a Russian military Mi-8 helicopter made an emergency landing on a road in the Dolinsky District of Sakhalin due to running out of fuel. There were eight people on board, including an election commission representative and four journalists, all of whom survived. The helicopter rolled over during the landing and slid into a ditch.
