In Chernihiv, discussions focus on which army – Nazi or Soviet – caused more damage to the city. During the German occupation, locals welcomed the Nazis, and the activities of churches and Ukrainian-language press were restored. The research also addresses the deaths of Soviet soldiers during the city's defense and forced labor to Germany.
