On 27 August 2026, it was reported that Russia used the upgraded 9M723-2 ballistic missiles, known as Iskander-1000, for the first time during a combined strike on Kyiv in the summer. These missiles have a range of up to 550 km, surpassing the previous Iskander-M version.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported that the range of the 9M723 Iskander ballistic missile is 390 km. An expert noted that Russia has exaggerated the missile's technical specifications for years, claiming a range of 500 km.
