Ukraine has launched the Freyja project aimed at enhancing ballistic defence. The project was discussed during international meetings in Kyiv, where President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed partners regarding interceptor supplies. According to reports, Ukraine is also preparing a tenfold cheaper alternative to the Patriot system.

Ukraine has initiated the Freyja project aimed at enhancing its anti-ballistic defence capabilities. The project was discussed during international meetings in Kyiv, where President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed partners about the need for interceptors and participation in a joint programme. Leaders from ten European countries, including Ukraine, signed a cooperation agreement in this area.
Ukraine, in collaboration with European partners, is working on a new air defense system called Freyja, which is expected to be ten times cheaper than American Patriot missiles. The project is led by the Ukrainian company Fire Point, with the first interception of ballistic missiles planned for mid-2027.
