On 30 August 2026, funeral ceremonies took place in Volhynia, where the remains of 55 Polish victims of the Volhynia tragedy were reburied. On 1 September 2026, Poland announced the start of searches for the remains of Ukrainians killed by the Hutsul Battalions, indicating a shift in approaches to commemorating the victims.
From the beginning to today
On 30 August, funeral ceremonies took place in Volyn to rebury the remains of 55 Polish victims of the Volhynia tragedy. The ceremonies were held in Ostryki and Wola Ostrowiecka, attended by relatives of the deceased and representatives of Polish and Ukrainian authorities.
