On September 8, Iryna Pletnova ceased to be the mayor of Uman following a decision by the "For the Future" party. This was made possible by a petition signed by local residents, marking the first such case in Ukraine.
Free digital literacy courses for adults have been launched in Cherkasy. The training is organized by the Municipal Enterprise 'City Development and Digital Transformation Institute', with classes held at three locations in the city. The course consists of 10 sessions, teaching participants how to use smartphones, messengers, social networks, and other online services.
History teacher Andrii Stetsiuk from Cherkasy has become the host of a new TV project "Influencers of the Past" on the "Dim" channel. The project features well-known Ukrainian actors, musicians, and bloggers exploring history through an interactive format, completing quests and tasks.
Parents of first-graders received over 738 million UAH for purchases through the School Package program in Diia. Currently, 158,000 applications have been submitted, with the state providing 5,000 UAH per child for necessary school items. Parents can apply online via the Diia app.
In Cherkasy, 40 babies were born from August 31 to September 6, which is 12 more than the previous week. More boys were born than girls.
Starting from September 4, 2026, the National Bank of Ukraine will issue a new 2000 hryvnia banknote. The banknote features a portrait of dissident Vasyl Stus and mosaics by artist Alla Horska, linked to the history of Cherkasy region.
