Cherkasy will start replacing the most worn-out waste containers in the city's yards. The municipal enterprise "Cherkasy Cleanliness Service" received the first batch of 112 new containers with a volume of 1100 liters. A total of 1000 new euro-containers will be purchased, arriving in several batches.
On September 6, eight fires broke out in the Cherkasy region, affecting dry vegetation and landfills. The main cause of the fires was found to be negligence during smoking.
In the Cherkasy region, specialists tested drinking water samples and found deviations from standards. From August 31 to September 4, 158 samples were tested for microbiological and 140 for sanitary-chemical indicators, with deviations found in two samples.
The swimming season in Cherkasy has ended following tests of water and sand at beaches. Parasites were found in 7 sand samples, including Giardia cysts and Toxocara eggs in Cherkasy and Uman.
On September 1, 25 fires were registered in the Cherkasy region, 19 of which occurred in ecosystems. The largest fire took place in the village of Pohreby in the Zolotonis'kyi district, where 2 hectares of dry vegetation were engulfed. A total of over 5 hectares of dry grass were destroyed by the flames.
From August 24 to 29, Cherkasy recorded exceedances of maximum allowable concentrations of dust, formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide, and ammonia. Concentrations of these substances exceeded permissible values in several areas of the city, particularly in the central part.
On September 1, the beach season 2026 officially ended in Cherkasy. The medical point and lifeguard posts at the beaches have ceased operations, but municipal workers will continue to maintain the areas, and toilets will remain open until the end of September.
