Iryna Pletnova was removed from her position as mayor of Uman by the decision of the "For the Future" party congress. This marks the first instance in Ukraine where a mayor was removed at the request of local residents after a petition. Pletnova plans to challenge the decision in court.
On September 8, two prosecutors, Victoria Dydych and Maksym Shtompel, were dismissed from the Cherkasy regional prosecutor's office. The decision followed the release of NABU recordings related to the "Carthage" operation, in which the prosecutors were implicated.
On September 7, during an extraordinary session in Uman, council members prematurely terminated the powers of city secretary Kateryna Tereshchenko and elected Rostyslav Zavoloka as the new secretary. The decision was made through a secret ballot at the proposal of the mayor Iryna Pletniova.
An official in the Cherkasy region will be tried for overpaying 421,000 hryvnias during a coal purchase. The education department of a local community bought 440 tons of coal, but due to inadequate market price analysis, an overpayment occurred.
