On September 5-6, 2026, border guards of the Chernivtsi detachment recorded various wild animals during their patrol of the state border. Among them were foxes, hares, deer, wild boars, and lynxes. Cameras also captured wolves moving through the forests near the border.
Bukovina is home to rare animals such as the lynx, brown bear, wildcat, spotted salamander, and black stork. These species are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and are difficult to spot in the wild.
