On September 9, Iran launched a missile attack on a US military base in Jordan and targeted ten vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. This was in response to the sinking of five Iranian oil tankers by US forces. The mutual attacks on maritime vessels marked the largest wave since the war began six months ago.
