Russian forces are preparing for an escalation of the conflict this autumn, particularly around Kostiantynivka, which is strategically important for controlling Donetsk. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that even if Russian troops capture Kostiantynivka, they will not be able to quickly breach Ukrainian defences in the region.
