On September 3, a failed assassination attempt occurred in Engels, Russia, targeting Major General Mykola Varpakhovych, who sustained serious injuries. The assailant, arriving on a motorcycle, shot Varpakhovych twice, hitting him in the torso and face. The general, linked to missile strikes on Ukraine, is in critical condition.
