In August 2026, Ukrainian drones carried out a series of strikes on oil refineries and other facilities in Russia, including in Samara, Krasnodar Krai, and Yaroslavl. These attacks were part of Ukraine's campaign against Russian infrastructure, involving numerous assaults on strategic targets. As of early September 2026, two Russian oil refineries ceased operations following these strikes.

On the night of 28 August 2026, Ukrainian drones targeted the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, igniting a fire. This marks the eighth attack on the facility in 2026, following previous assaults in May and July.
On August 30, 2026, Ukrainian drones targeted a military airfield in Yeysk and the KINEF oil refinery in Leningrad Oblast. Local sources reported fires and secondary explosions at the airfield, while the governor confirmed the interception of 42 drones.
