Throughout August 2026, the Russian army suffered significant losses on the front in Ukraine, with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reporting total combat losses exceeding 1.47 million personnel. Numerous combat engagements were noted, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions, where Russian forces launched multiple attacks. By the end of August, losses continued to rise, with daily losses recorded as high as 1,630 personnel.

In recent days, the Russian army has experienced substantial losses on the front lines. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, approximately 1,390 soldiers were lost on August 20, bringing total losses since the beginning of the invasion to over 1,474,030 personnel.
