On August 26, 2026, Russian forces struck Chernihiv, killing two people, including a four-year-old girl, and injuring another child. Following the attack, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine announced plans for the mobilisation of women.

On August 26, 2026, Russian forces struck Chernihiv, resulting in the deaths of a 49-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl. A 14-year-old girl was injured and hospitalised. The strike caused a fire in a private residential building and damaged nearby structures.
